Abuja Rising Centenary City’s Big Push Gains Momentum with Major Infrastructure Development
Centenary City is steadily transforming from vision to reality, as primary infrastructure works within the ambitious Abuja development project gather impressive speed. In a recent press release dated April 21, 2026, the management of Centenary City PLC highlighted significant progress, backed by strategic partnerships and strong community support.
The journey took a decisive turn on August 15, 2025, when Centenary City officially brought on board Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to handle critical infrastructure development. This includes the construction of a 4.3-kilometre Plot Access Road—marking one of the foundational steps in shaping the city’s layout. Alongside this, Dar Al-Handasah Consultants was engaged to deliver the detailed engineering design for the entire project, ensuring global standards in execution.
What makes this phase particularly noteworthy is not just the pace of development, but the growing involvement of local communities. According to the statement, the project is not only about building roads and structures, but about telling the story of a collective effort—where everyday Nigerians play a role in bringing a modern city to life.
Centenary City is being positioned as Abuja’s leading urban renewal initiative—a carefully planned, sustainable, and pedestrian-friendly environment designed to meet the demands of a modern lifestyle. Beyond aesthetics, the project carries economic weight, promising job creation, improved infrastructure, and increased opportunities for businesses and investors.
The development is also strategically aligned with environmental considerations, aiming to blend urban living with nature. Once completed, Centenary City is expected to function as a fully integrated, multifunctional hub—offering residential, commercial, and tourism opportunities within a single ecosystem.
The project has also received notable institutional and traditional backing. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, was acknowledged for his support toward sustainable development in Abuja. Equally recognized is the Toge community, under the leadership of the Emir of Jiwa, HRM Dr. Idris Musa, whose land and cooperation have been pivotal to the project’s takeoff.
As construction progresses and infrastructure takes shape, Centenary City stands as a symbol of what is possible when vision, expertise, and community alignment come together. For Abuja, it signals not just expansion—but evolution.
