Shotua – Salute
Emerging Afro-fusion artist Shotua is making a powerful statement with her latest single, “Salute.” More than just a song, Salute is a heartfelt tribute to women — their strength, grace, resilience, and undeniable impact on the world.
Blending rich Yoruba expression with vibrant Afro-inspired production, Shotua crafts a sound that feels both culturally rooted and globally resonant. The track opens with the striking lines, “Mopelola obirin ni mi… Orimi o ni buru lai,” immediately establishing pride, identity, and confidence. From the very first note, listeners are drawn into a celebration of femininity that is both personal and universal.
At the heart of Salute is an infectious, chant-worthy chorus:
“Salute to all ladies, salute to all women, we are the salt of the world.”
The message is simple yet powerful — women are essential, valuable, and worthy of recognition. The pre-chorus, “Obirin dun… we ladies sweet, we ladies do our best,” reinforces themes of appreciation and self-worth, highlighting women not just as participants in society, but as foundational pillars of it.
Shotua masterfully balances cultural authenticity with modern Afro-fusion elements, creating a track that feels fresh while staying deeply connected to tradition.
