CONTROVERSY ERUPTS AS DR SHAGZ’S “DATIEMO” TAKES OVER NIGERIA
The Nigerian music scene is on fire—and not just because of the infectious rhythm of Dr Shagz’s newly released single, “Datiemo.” What started as a club banger has quickly spiraled into one of the most controversial moments in recent entertainment history.
“Datiemo,” currently dominating clubs and FM stations across the country, has become the anthem of the streets almost overnight. From Lagos nightlife to Abuja lounges, the track’s catchy hook and bold lyrics have made it impossible to ignore. But with fame has come a storm of backlash that’s threatening to overshadow its success.
Critics are calling out Dr Shagz for what they describe as “provocative and suggestive messaging,” accusing the artist of promoting a lifestyle that clashes with cultural and moral values. Some radio stations have reportedly debated pulling the track off air, while others have doubled down, citing “freedom of expression” and audience demand. Even more shocking are the rumors swirling online that “Datiemo” contains subtle jabs at certain unnamed political figures and industry heavyweights. Fans have been dissecting the lyrics line by line, with some claiming the song is more than just music—it’s a coded message aimed at exposing hidden truths.
Meanwhile, insiders allege that Dr Shagz deliberately engineered the controversy as a publicity stunt. A source close to the artist hinted that, “He knew exactly what he was doing. This was never just about music—it was about shaking the table.” Despite the uproar, streaming numbers continue to skyrocket. DJs can’t get enough of it, and clubgoers are chanting every word. Love it or hate it, “Datiemo” is undeniably the hottest—and most talked-about—track in Nigeria right now.
As the debate rages on, one thing is clear: Dr Shagz has done more than release a song—he’s ignited a national conversation. Whether this controversy will elevate his career or bring unexpected consequences remains to be seen. But for now, “Datiemo” isn’t just a hit… it’s a movement.
