A Contempt proceedings have commenced against The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla

A contempt proceedings have commenced against the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla at the Federal High Court sitting in ikoyi, Lagos State. The Chief of Naval Staff the contemptnor is in disobedience of a court order directing the Nigerian Navy to release a vessel christened MT Vinnalaris 1. The vessel and her crew members were arrested by the Nigerian Navy in December, 2023, they were charged before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, and were convicted. The Court ordered the release of the vessel to her owner, Kosda Energy Limited. Since the 25/06/24 that the order was made, the Nigerian Navy has refused to release the vessel to the owners, despite several letters from the court and the Efcc, the agency that prosecuted the case at the Federal High Court; hence the commencement of the contempt proceedings against the Chief of Naval Staff
