Early Life & Background

Tiwa Savage was born in Lagos, Nigeria, but moved to London, UK, at age 11. She was passionate about music from a young age and played the trombone in her school band.

She later attended Berklee College of Music in the U.S., where she honed her songwriting and vocal skills.

Before her solo career, she worked as a backup vocalist for global stars like Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, and George Michael. She also co-wrote songs for artists like Fantasia and Monica and even competed in The X Factor UK in 2006.


Musical Career

Breakthrough & Mavin Records Era (2010–2016)

Tiwa returned to Nigeria in 2010 and started working on Afrobeats music. She signed with Mavin Records under Don Jazzy in 2012 and released her debut album “Once Upon a Time” (2013).
